90 in 180 days
Re: 90 in 180 days
Perhaps it's quieter at the weekends Katy. From what's been written, there seems to be thousands of workers crossing every day from La Linea. I guess it will be much busier once the Brits go there on holiday as it's one of the few places they can get to on the green list. I would imagine they will be crossing into Spain from there if allowed? Not sure what border controls there will be once holidaymakers start to arrive.
Re: 90 in 180 days
Yes peak periods are the work commute. We always used to aim to leave by around 3pm. We are having a short break there but not planning to cross into Spain. Let the mountain come to Mohammed, our friends.
Re: 90 in 180 days
Theres approx 15k cross border workers each day. Work comings and going and the school runs are the worst times. Even though people who go to school in Gib are supposed to live there but dont! Very small que in either direction at 11am on friday. Normally i have waited upto 45 mins at that time to cross.but during the week between 3-6 leaving its the normal long queues. The only time i went straight in and out in both directions was last july when it was very quiet due to covid
Currently non res brits cant go into spain until the end of the month. Whether thats to be extended is to be seen.

My British passport was 'wet stamped' on departure but not upon entry. I arrived and departed from different airports in Andalucía. Just wondering why my passport wasn't stamped upon entry in case this is queried on my next trip.

Good that they did not stamp your passport to enter Spain if you are a resident..I wouldn't worry about it. It may take a while before they have all got their heads around stamping or not to stamp passports for British residents.
Re: 90 in 180 days
I hold a British passport only, am non-resident and was travelling alone. I just hope than Spain and other EU countries don't just rely on wet stamps to determine adherence to 90 in 180 days rule otherwise I could end up having to explain where I've been since 1 January 2021! Having said that my passport just got stamped at departure so presumably the CNP either knew when I arrived or weren't that bothered...

I am sure they have an electronic record. If not you could tamper with your passport and erase stamps. Also if not electronic how do they stop you entering via France and driving into Spain. All the EU must be on some electronic system.

That’s the impression I get when I am going through passport control. They scan the passport and read information on the screen.

Not yet, there is a new integrated system the EES which is scheduled to end up and running in mid 2022. This will allows all countries in Schengen to operate off the same system. For now each country is on it's own and keeps it's own records. That is why you still get stamped, if you are not an EU resident or citizen and cannot show a stamp upon exit from Schengen then you will have problems as you cannot show when you arrived.
When the new system is up and running there will be no need for stamping, just the same as when you enter Oz or NZ where everything is done electronically.
The scanning that is done now entering for example by Spain only saves to the Spanish database and also checks the passport chip and also checks for fake documents

Re: 90 in 180 days
there is an app 'EU Schengen Control' which appears to give you a running total for dates that might prove useful to others
Re: 90 in 180 days
I read that from 2022 the whole of the EU will be on an electronic system which all member states will be linked too.
