Holidaying in Spain. Great idea.

Has anyone noticed if holidays on the Costas are cheaper? Whenever I look they seem “ normal” prices.

Conversely I speculatively looked at hotels in Truro to possibly visit friends there this Autumn and could not believe how expensive they were. Huge demand for UK staycations has no doubt helped keep prices high. It made our overnight stay at 38 euros inc a decent breakfast in an atmospheric old hotel in Avila look positively cheap even adding 10 euros for having the dog in the room.

Who's blaming the Brits? Nobody on here. The reason people from Britain don't come has nothing to do with any Spanish policy. It's the British government that has imposed the quarantine on the return. The EU travel certificate is for EU countries. Brexit means that the UK has to make it's own agreements. Certain green countries do not allow British travellers in while Amber ones do.

I should also add it's not the Spanish government which is causing problems for us expats who would like to go back for short stays. As pointed out earlier in the thread the new rules do not include us.

2 points about lockdowns, first, Spain hasn't had one for over a year, only restrictions and they aren't only to reduce deaths because they also help to relive pressure on the health service. or flatten the curve so they do work.

I call restrictions lockdown. At one stage Europeans could enter UK whilst even those with second homes could not enter Spain. Just different times.

TUI are offering deals including tests for clients to Spain. I would rather pay extra than go on one of their packages.

If the objective is to save lives then lockdowns (and restrictions) do work,...it is the opening up (and loosening up) that causes the problems. That is when people start dying.

Should we lockdown forever? More people have died from flu the last few months than Covid.

Yes, Elusive. I downloaded mine last week, and I don't have a digital certificate. Used the Salud Andalucia app, which I had registered with using datos personales. When you log into the app (with AN number from your tarjeta sanitaria, NIE number and date of birth), a message is sent to your mobile with a security code number which you then enter to complete the login).

Unless things change I can see no point in any vaccination certificate that does refer to NHS jabs. Only these are accepted in the UK.

But some of us may want to visit countries in the EU.

Do you have any source data for this assertion? Can you clarify where and when you are referring to?

I wonder if or how soon other European countries will follow Macrons lead.? ( last night)

Mandatory vaccination for health workers including carers or face sanctions.

Covid pass for restaurants, theatres, long distance rail travel etc. Vacinated, recent negative test or recovery from Covid.

The Netherlands lifted restrictions and then applied them three weeks later. Dutch PM apologised.

I think we have a long way to go yet.

This is flu and pneumonia... so not sure of the relevance to the original statement

Austria and Denmark you already need a passport to go to certain places for example restaurants
Ireland you will need if from July 26th (possibly earlier)

There may be others also

The dumb thing is the staff in the restaurants can be unvaccinated but not the customers because the vaccine has not been rolled out to the youngest people yet in some countries
