2nd Day PCR Test
2nd Day PCR Test
Maybe I've missed something .
Re our "Day 2" tests for our trip to UK, I know we can book a test online, but do we have to physically attend the test or is it sent to us as some kind of kit?
Cheers JB

Re: 2nd Day PCR Test
You can chose a testing company who sends you a home test kit, they provide you with the instructions on how to return the test to them. Some have drop boxes if you are in a location where they have them, or you can usually post back using Royal Mail.
Re: 2nd Day PCR Test
Thankyou Pamela.
Presumably then, I don't need to find a test centre near to where I'm staying?
Funny isn't it; I'm an intelligent chap ( I can even get 4 or 5 answers on "Only Connect" ! ) but all this "travel reqs." stuff has left me cold.
Thanks again. JB.

No, you don't need to find a test centre near to where you are staying, as long as you have an address for them to post it out to you that is all that is required. Many people are easily confused, booking airline tickets and going through the menu for seats/baggage is a breeze compared to working your way through the jargon on testing and what the procedure includes..The most frustrating for me was the first testing company i used, they made a mountain out of a molehill with their online system for activating the test and entering data. The next company i used was more straight forward and their system was user friendly..Good luck choosing a company, there are lots.

And with all the wonderful testing requirements I see that the UK is still recording over 30000 cases every day.

Re: 2nd Day PCR Test
Yes Sid this is true! but little wonder when lateral flow tests are given out for free like sweets. You can order them online and they arrive the next day, go to any pharmacy and pick up a couple of free boxes as and when you require them, no questions asked.
Re: 2nd Day PCR Test
Just to complicate things; our 2nd day after arriving is Boxing Day.
Hope the testing services are still operating!

Re: 2nd Day PCR Test
I really wouldn't worry about it jonbar.1....Not your fault Boxing Day is day2. As long as you have your booking reference number then you have done all you can, the rest is up to the testing centre to deliver.
Wait some time before booking a test, things can change before then, it could be that they change to a lateral flow test on day 2, hell could freeze over and they might abolish them all together.

Thanks Pamela
We intend to wait.
They may abolish all tests by Xmas. ...and make airlines administer complimentary "G&T"s during flights

I am sure I read that you can return Day 2 tests within 70 hours after taking them.Pamela1 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 8:25 pm I really wouldn't worry about it jonbar.1....Not your fault Boxing Day is day2. You are probably right anyroads..
Re: 2nd Day PCR Test
Or just don’t bother returning them. Just had my booster jab, getting to be a way of life testing and jabbing.

Re: 2nd Day PCR Test
Just read an article in the paper that Javid is pushing for the 2 day test to be monitored over Zoom as they suspect people are cheating. At additional cost of course... Couldn't make this *beep* up...

Re: 2nd Day PCR Test
I think the day 2 test is pretty pointless, any new varient has already been spread around from any one returning from Travel, its just a money making racket and to keep the masses quiet who still don't agree with people leaving and coming into the country..
Re: 2nd Day PCR Test
Not everybody will have access to internet/zoom, such as my OH if he went to see his dad for instance. Not unless he does it whilst having a coffee and using their free wifi From what I've read of people's experiences, they don't seem to be chasing it up anyway so it all seems to be a pointless and expensive waste of time.casita-bonita wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 10:49 am Just read an article in the paper that Javid is pushing for the 2 day test to be monitored over Zoom as they suspect people are cheating. Re: 2nd Day PCR Test
A little issue like not having an internet connection, or zoom app installed won't stop them from potentally making another £15 per traveller... Since when did common sense play any part in these decisions..

Re: 2nd Day PCR Test
Agree Pamela. OH doesn't use the internet except from an occasional email. I am his PA. I don't do zoom either, hate it. Just one to one on Facetime. Some people with good connections have made a fortune out of this continual testing.

Re: 2nd Day PCR Test
Has anybody had problems getting their QR Code in the 48 hours before travelling to Spain, or does it sail through after completing / sending the form ? Not a great traveler the best of times, and this is an added "worry" !
