Alhama de granada

Had a few hrs in this town yesterday. First visit even though we dont live to far away. Definitely worth a visit if you havnt been before. Lots of very old buildings many could do with a reform but it was part of the charm. You could see the wealth that must have been here many years ago. We drove back to the coast following the road to arenas del rey and then jete instead of towards velez . The drive before jete is simply stunning if not a little hairy! Its amazing how they built roads in such places. The views were incredible

Did you walk along the gorge and see the old flour mills aside the river ... in ruins now but probably some of the wealth of the town originated there ... also the Balneario is worth a visit ... hot sulphur springs feed the swimming pool of the hotel and the spa below it ... havent been for years but used to be able to swim in pool for a small charge (1 euro?) even if you werent a resident ... and, tarted up now, but outside the hotel complex is the overflow from said hot springs ... pools of hot, warm and cool water ... and free! ... the drive down the narrow steep lane to the baths is wonderful too!

Yes we walked down right into the gorge. The tourist office does guided tours a so many times times a week. We just missed one when we arrived but there were lots of maps and info available.
