Rota to Cadiz via Puerto cataraman
Rota to Cadiz via Puerto cataraman
Anyone got any info on the latest on this ferry service? I know they have done trial runs, but when is it expected to start? Thanks

Tried out the new cataraman service from Puerto to Cadiz.
Journey was half an hour for 1.80 Euros.
No reservation allowed. Tickets must be purchased around
time of departure.
Car park is not free as announced.
It cost me more than five Euros for about four hours.
It would have cost me only a Euro per entry by parking opposite ...
walking distance about ten steps away.

At last it's started. ! Long delay in the inauguration caused by some problems building the terminal at Cadiz harbour and other things.
The timetable is on a PDF file on the Consorcio http://www.cmtbc.com/08/doc/TarjetaBarco.pdf
The official parking area is apparently Free for holders of some Consorcio de Transportes Bahia Cadiz card. Unsure what this means !

Parking is completely free if you buy the Consorcio de Transportes Bahia Cadiz card and use that but not if you just buy a single ticket. You buy the ticket at the counter with as much money as you want to put on it, 10 euros etc. Then it gets swiped for long distance bus routes and the catamaran and you top it up as and when like a mobile card. It's part of the new integrated transport policy. You get a discount on the bus/ferry tickets, the percentage depending on how many times a month you use your card, from 10% to 25%. I bought a ticket last week and got free parking as I didn't want to pay for 5 hours. They give you a map to show all the buses you can use it on in the Bay.
