Malaga airport problems
Malaga airport problems
We will be arriving at Malaga airport on Thursday afternoon ( hope the weather brightens up by then ). Have picked up on a few problems going on at the airport, any advice on what to expect? Will be heading west towards the toll road.

Malaga Airport
I flew out of Malaga yesterday (Friday 17th March). Only problem I had was with a 1hr 35mins delay with the incoming easyJet flight from Liverpool.
There were no problems at all getting to, or through, Malaga airport.

I think the main problems are being experienced by people picking up or dropping off friends, relations etc. Its virtually a case of pulling up, pushing them and their luggage out of the door and off again.
This means that the legalised bandits who drive those white cars with a Taxi sign on the roof are having a field day especially as the tariff board has also disappeared again!
The other difficulties are for people who use the private airport parking companies situated the other side of the railway line because the narrow road over the line has now been closed and it means either having to go down to the main road and coming back in via the San Miguel factory or going back the other way to the new roundabout and coming in past the cargo area.

Beachcomber, you were right, dropping off is the major problem. We arranged to meet our hire car guy on the main road leading into the airport. He then drove us in to departures and dropped us off but there was quite a queue so you do need to allow extra time for check in.
We were told that the works are going to continue 'til june & everyone is dreading the easter period.
Coming back next week & flying into Gib! Hope we don't get diverted

We left last Sunday morning, and knowing of the problem (thanks to this forum) we arrived with plenty of time to spare. I needed to fill up the car, so just drove straight there, then up to Terminal 2 carpark, parked the car, and walked straight in. Easiest ever! It was about 8am, no queues whatsoever!
Unusual for me to get it right!

We collected from an arrival on Friday at Malaga and were directed to park at P3 about a 1000 km away! There was plenty of parking and it was free and a free bus took us to arrivals and took us back.It added about 30 minutes to the process
I couldn't see anything that would stop you leaving a car there for free while you went on a flight!!

Reading the local Spanish newspapers last week when we were there, there are large adverts advising everyone to go to P3, where as you say, there are free buses to and from the main terminal. Trouble is, not many visitors read the local papers!aligato wrote:We collected from an arrival on Friday at Malaga and were directed to park at P3 about a 1000 km away!
