Frank- how about cost of diesel ? What price are you using ? And is it exactly 1 hour and 59 minutes? Does that allow for any pit stops?

Excellent, people, Thankyou. What would you add on, starting from Velez Malaga do you think, and would you take the same route?

do you really mean velez-malaga or comares? ... if the latter go thro to colmenar or riogordo - whichever is nearest to you then head west to near casabermeja where you can pick up the motorway going north towards cordoba ... but if I was you I would not go to cordoba now as its very hot there!

Thanks Frank, will check that site out. Thanks too Gavilan. No not going soon, was planning ahead for possible trip with some friends in the autumn. As a non driver I shouldn't really be doing this aspect of the research anyway but there you go. I wanted to establish whether it was feasible for a day trip, to check out the mosque, but from your figures, although possible it would not be pleasant. Which brings me to my next question, any thoughts on a nice place to stay overnight? Nothing fancy. B&B would do and there would probably be four of us. Also are there any other must see things in Cordoba?

There is a fairly basic but nice place to stay called HOTEL MAESTRE in the centre and close to the river. I think it has a car park underground so that could be very useful.
But there are many other nice places to stay in Cordoba and to eat !

Someone on the A.com board recommended Casa de los Naranjos in Cordoba to us a couple of months ago and it was very nice, friendly, central, OK breakfast.
