Sports centres with indoor swimming pool?

Postby Wilson25 » Fri Mar 30, 2007 8:00 pm

Does anyone know if there's a sports centre with indoor pool which you can use and "pay as you go" rather than be a member? Torre del Mar, Nerja, Torrox area? Thanks in advance.

Thanks marchamona. I think that'll be the sports centre at the far end of Torre near Mercadona and where the market used to be?

There is a health club in Torre del Mar with an indoor pool (Club Sensei - I am a member) and you can pay by the day but it´s an expensive way to have a swim (it was 7€ last year, may have gone up now). There´s also a pùblic indoor swimming pool in the centre of Velez Malaga which I think is about 2€ for entry. Can´t remember the name of the street it´s on but there are signs for the Piscina Cubierta.

Thanks, Velez is another option then. The kids are off school this week and I'm trying to come up with options for my son and his friends.

There is an indoor sports center by the new football pitch at Torrox, and I see that they are just putting a roof on the new pool next door.

There will also be a new pool opening in Competa later this year.

Sorry Wilson, I should have said that the Velez pool is only available for public swimming for certain hours during the day (it is used for classes and swimming lessons for the rest of the day, as indeed is the health club pool). I don´t have the times available but it might be best to check in advance if you can to avoid a wasted trip if you are travelling some distance.

I'm often in Velez and Nerja and was unaware there were indoor public pools - it just goes to show what you find out if you ask. I'm hoping for the Competa sports centre to be finished soon as it'd be such a good thing for the youngsters here but I'm beginning to think there's only one man employed to make progress as it's taking such a long time. Here's hoping Los Pinos!
