I would imagine Pinturas Andalucia sell them. They seem to have a lot of artists' supplies.
Things could be worse...

Neither Pinturas Andalucia or El Cortes Ingles seem to have any artist materials on their websites and Pinturas Andalucia seems to be for painting and decorating materials! I saw an art supplies shop on the way from the bus station to Malaga airport a few months ago, but didn't catch the name and have no idea now how to find it again (apart from getting a bus to the airport again!). Not sure where the fruit market is as I have only passed through Malaga so far.

I am looking for such a shop with a decent and varied stock as well, as I plan to visit Malaga soon. Not one to buy paints for the kiddies, but a proper art supplies shop! If I can't find one I will just have to use Jacksons Online who charge about £17 or so for delivery to Spain but it would be nice to use local! I am surprised that with such a large retired expat community in Spain, some enterprising Spanish art supplier has not advertised in any of the English language papers here.

Have you actually looked inside one of these places?
Surprised me how much artists materials some of these painting and decorating shops stock.

This was my original posting from 6 years ago.

Unfortunately you'll need to get your artist materials shipped from the UK, especially if you want good quality paint, brushes and paper especially for watercolour painting.

You mentioned Jacksons, there is also Ken Bromley, Fred Aldus and Lawrence for supplies. As you said shipping costs can be quite pricey(make a large order). I haven't been to Corte Inglais for sometime but they have a small but decent range of quality materials. Pinturas de Andalucia sell a small range of Titan artists paints, not exactly Winsor & Newton though.

It would be interesting to see if any other posters know of any (good quality) local suppliers.

I live out in the sticks in the south of Cordoba province and there are at least two shops selling decent quality artists materials in our local town. Painting seems to be more popular here than in the UK and I would certainly have no difficulty finding materials in other nearby towns.

You might find it worthwhile asking in your local tourist office (they seem to be amazingly good for all sorts of information other than tourism) or your local council or adult education centre about art classes or groups and the members will certainly be able to tell you where the best materials at the best prices can be bought.

As has already been said, many household paint shops carry a nice range of artists materials too.

As was said in this quote, this is a good specialist artists materials shop. It is located directly opposite the Mercado Atarazanas in Calle Atarazanas which runs parallel with the Alameda Principal. It is just across the river from El Corte Ingles and within easy walking distance of Calle Larios. If you are not familiar with Malaga you could take a taxi and ask for Mercado Atarazanas.

Thanks - I live in Nerja where our local shop has moved and apparently now got a larger stock, though I haven't been there since then, but I would be interested in knowing where the one in Torre del Mar is as we occasionally go there.

Thanks, I think the bus from Nerja goes past the docks so I will check that out when we go there.

Hi, don't know if you are still looking for artist quality paints but Ken Bromley art supplies .... ( [email protected] ) has a good sale on this weekend lots of offers. Evidently he posts from £5 worldwide. I've used him for years and always been pleased with the products and the careful packaging. Often it's next day delivery here in the UK. Happy painting  Sandra

Thanks for that info Sandramay

Checked out Ken Bromley website, they have a special offer on at the moment, 35% OFF Winsor & Newton watercolour paints, but 35% off the RRP price though, this makes them more or less a similar price to those of Jacksons Art Materials and Society of Art & Artist Shop prices, although £5 delivery to Spain is very good for items under 1Kg.

Cheers
