Have those hideous shoes caught on in Andalucia

Postby Campo Kenny » Tue Aug 21, 2007 1:37 pm

OH informed me yesterday they are called crocs. I noticed a few women wearing them at the airports on our visit in June and noticed them being worn down on the coast.
Nipped into Southport yesterday and everybody had them on.

What a horrible looking piece of footwear which made dumpy women look even dumpier.....what is the point of them? Is it a chav thing or are they just nice to wear. OH mentioned she might get a pair but has since been informed she won't be walking out with me if she does.

Kenny

PS If anyone wears them here I'll get me coat

Seriously we were behind 3 women yesterday wearing them. Each had a different lurid colour pair on and they just looked stupid.
They just seem to be all over the place at the moment, seriously bad looking sandles.

New fad. Don't see how they can be comfy, your feet slipping round in sweat in rubber
What's worse is the kiddy ones, they actually sell little badge things you can put in the holes and they all want them. My little grandson, 3 wants a pair so he can have Lightening McQueen in his.

Chavtastic i agree. First time i saw them was a neighbour back in Wales 18 months ago, he was a strange chap, think he was a life therapist so that says it all!

Look gross, look chav, and surely must be sweaty. Had some friends round the other and the whole family had a different pair. I think i need some new friends. :P

The latest fad from the USA, they were all walking about in them last year.

Cheap, nasty, and positively unhealthy for childrens feet.

I first saw them at the Boat Show a couple of years ago, which I think was the original market they were aiming for - yotties. Didn't catch on though.

Funnily enough we went to a fancy dress the other week - it was a chav theme so I dressed up my Reef's to look like crocs. I thought I was being quite original but a mate actually went and bought a pair.

I was brought up in Southport Kenny. In my day it was the fashion centre of the North West, but things must be changing there - horrible shoes. Yuck :?

Agree with the USa thing....I was in Mexico last month and whilst out diving, the Yanks were raving about them, apparently filled a "void" in the market according to said divers.....

I got from them that they were not cheap, and were "good" for the foot??!?

Not to my taste, but each to their own.....(never owned a pair of platforms or doc martins either!!)

Well I have a nice blue pair...a present from my daughter (she is well hooked and the kids too)..they are the real ones and quite expensive..the one in the bargain shops are not quite the same...at first I shoved them in the cupboard..thought I would never wear them..but now find them really useful and comfortable..great for gardening..walking in the campo.. in the rivers and pebbly beaches...the hole assure no sweat and keep feet cool..they are very light weight..the bumps and shape inside massage and are good for your feet.. so easy to clean.. ok..so...they are not very smart...so won´t be waring them to the ball  only problem is stopping the wife from wearing them...so I am gonna have to get her a pair
Does that mean I´m a chav (whatever that is) :?:

Hmmm. I do not consider myself a chav but i wear a pair every day for work..the "prima" style. They are soooo comfortable and non-sweaty and lightweight. I wouldn't wear them out of work though. I don't think plastic is a good look at all, at all.
My husband has allll the colours in the crocs and in the "athens" style too and will not wear any other type of shoe now.

I have noticed many people wearing fake crocs, maybe they are chavs?
anyway, anyway, love from me.

Well I consider myself to be a doyen of fashion, but a slave to comfort so if they are comfortable I'll wear them, and they can not smell any worse than my black school plimsoles which are in pristine as new condition having only ever had 6 new soles and 12 pairs of laces since I got them 42 years ago.

There was a new shop opened on Plaza Andalucia in Torremolinos a few months back, specialisings in Crocs. Closed down already. I guess we're just not trendy enough here! 8)

Perhaps they've sold out already and gone back to selling pseudo hardwood carvings around the bars.

I have never really fancied them before although I know a lot of people who wear them for work who swear by them, but I have just looked at the website above and am quite taken with them now. I especially like the mary jane ones for kids...lovely! :)
