Tap Water V Bottled Water

Postby karandjon » Wed Jan 30, 2008 9:44 pm

How many people, since moving to Spain, drink only bottled water? (I know some people have to, but this is aimed at those with a choice).

With 5 litre bottles being available for under 50c, we havent used tap water for drinking, for years now.

When visitors come over, they all love the bottled water and swear they´re gonna buy it when they go back home....only for them to see how costly it is for them in England.

Our friends, who live up a mountain, have wonderful tap water. I must admit ours have never tasted as nice as that or as nice as the bottled though.

Bottled water in the height of the summer and tap water the rest of the time.
When levels are low in the summer the tap water is a bit cloudy.

Tap water for me. We have several filters before the water comes into the house.

Local Spring Water for us, but just for drinking. Our mains water is perfectly safe but the Authorities can be a bit heavy handed with the chlorine sometimes. Having a shower smells like the public baths they put so much in. :?

Tap water for me, but I leave it in the fridge overnight first to get rid of the chlorine smell. It isn't the cost of bottled water, it's just the convenience of it coming out of the tap

Defiantly bottled water for drinking.
I've seen inside the depositos that supply tap water to our house. :(
Cheers

We used to use bottled but now use a brita filter system like this and we have had no problems as of yet.

I think it really depends where you live as to which water you drink. For example in Almeria I can't drink tap water as it tastes so bad, there is a lot of lime in the water. When I go to Malaga it also tastes bad ,to me it has a salty taste. Here in Granada city it is just fine and you rarely see people buying bottled water.

Tap, then in to the brita filter, and store in the fridge, taste is fine...

Wow, thanks for the replies. Now having a look at the Brita filter. How long do the cartridges last, because the cost of those add up to many 49c 5litre bottles of water?
Thanks
Karen
