Dangerous pesticides / herbicides

We live in an area where people around us spray from time to time and one of our animals has been ill from it with a negative or allergic reaction. Does anyone know which are the pesticides or herbicides to avoid if you have dogs and cats so I can prevent it happening again?

All I can say is that I've found that all the agricultural chemicals used are many times stronger than those available in the UK. Potentially all sprayed areas are a danger to pets.
