Cartama
Cartama is a smallish town 20 mins from the coast, next to coin.
It used to be a very basic town, but is now on the up . Due to all the new motorway links cartama is seen as commuter belt to malaga.
There are two new shopping centres going to be built in the near future
also a large sports centre and a hospital are waiting to be built asap.
Cartama is in two parts cartama estacion which is the main town and has a train station into malaga and cartama pueblo which is the old village
with a pretty little church which sits on top of a hill overlooking the village.
Estacion has many shops, bars and cafes and the very popular sunday market. It is still quite a traditional town but is changing with many people from malaga coming to live. There is also a large amount of attractive large villas in the countryside not far from the town. Also some illegal villas built in the mountains. The town hall of cartama is awful and employs probably the most brain dead people around. But apart from that its not a bad place to live as it is so central for malaga , the coast and other inland towns. And is known for its fruit growing industry. Tell me why do you want to know.

According to the town hall website it is the 1st sunday of the month, and is an ecological market, cheeses, honey, fruit and veg, make up, eggs and plenty more. I havent been yet as it is quite new. all producers are local to the area.
We also have an almond factory in cartama, and they produce all kinds of almond products.
