Postby oliveview01 » Thu Sep 25, 2008 10:08 am

I need to get my eyes tested and checked for :
Diabetic Retinopathy and Glaucoma
I´ve looked in my dictionary and there are no translations for either.
I´m sure someone here can help
Thanks :D

Sorry but I dont know the answer to your question..

But surely the optician would do these tests as a matter of course anyway.

The first one is:- Retinopatía Diabética
The second is:- Glaucoma (the same I think)

Eyes are: Ojos

Just the pronunciation now, good look!

I had a check last November, but I can´t remember them doing the retinopathy one. I had the puff in the eye pressure test (I think,a year is a long time ago!). Last year I wasn´t diabetic, I´ve been diagnosed 4 months ago, so need to make sure I get the other test. There is a big family history of diabetis and I had told them that. I´ve had the ´photo´ taken back in the UK of the whole eye, the photo comes out like a bright moon- that is the test that I want here. We are with Mapfre, I need to track down that test if the occulista does not do it. I did go to the optician, told them about the glaucoma (brother) and family history of diabetis and they refused to test me, said I needed an occulista.
I did have drops put in my eyes so the pupils open, boy was it uncomfortable walking back to the car with no sunglasses or hat to shade my eyes
Many thanks

Glaucoma is pronounced glowwcoma......with the ow bit pronounced as per the end of miaow......if that helps?

You could just take the words written down in case you are worried about getting your message across.......
