I got made redundant on December 20th 2008, enjoyed christmas as no point in looking for work. Started looking about second week in Jan, started new job in Gib 2nd Feb. I live in Marbella so have to travel but there is work in Gib if you go to Gib looking. Email and phone and they always seem to say there is no work so you have to go down there as often as possible and look them in the face, I agree there is nothing in Spain at the moment.

Regard
Ian

the online gaming companies are nearly always recruiting, I get the Gib Chronicle everyday and there are nearly always 2 or three jobs in it.

all the gib jobs are on here - andalucia.com and on wemploy.com and on gamingjobs.com

for what it would cost to travel from here to there every day, and the time, i´d be looking at 14 hour days for hardly any "profit".

i know a couple guys from alhaurin that do work down there tho, its a possible?

I didn't get my job through recuitment agencies as they have to many people on there books. I looked at the Gib Yellow website and sent emails direct to a load of companies and got 2 telephone calls the next morning. Interviewed the same day and started work a week later. I'm not saying it is easy but it can be done.

A lot of companies don't go through agencies anymore as it cost them to much and in a crisis money is everything.

By the way Wemploy has gone bust and are no longer trading.

Hubby works in Gib,his company has just took on a few big contracts that should see them in work for the next 3 plus years. He says the spanish men trawl Gib daily looking for work on the building sites.
I have a couple of clients that work in the betting industry over in Gib...they are thinning the staff down and one of my clients has took voluntary redundancy(which she is more than happy with)

Spanish Lad,you have a few Gibbo mates couldnt you doss with them until you got sorted with work, then look for someone to share a flat with when you find employment?
Its also not far from your ma and pa.

I'm still working, I work remotely for a website, on the forum side of things. However my employers(UK) still haven't sorted out whether I am freelance or employed, so am in limbo at the moment, but at least getting paid (when they remember, but that's another story!). DP works in the UK in the TV industry, which so far is still chugging along.
Finally really and properly living in Andalucia.

The online gaming companies are always looking for 24/7 customer service staff that are fluent in a various languages.

If you can only speak english with a bit of spanish then forget coming to gib for work as the bone idle Gibbo's have got that one sussed.

The commutes a nightmare, parking in la linea is a joke, they will tax you through the nose, oh yes lets not forget that sterling is pretty worthless at the moment.

As a result of the influx of people coming into gib from the Costa's salaries have dropped considerably and now people are accepting work for very little pay. (and im not talking about the Marroccans).

The only good thing about working in Gib is that its easy to get to the airport from work (if your going to london).
