An Ecuadorian man in La Rioja has been fined for posting bills in his search for work

Unemployed Ecuadorian man, Franco Bolívar Jiménez, has been fined 92 € for pasting posters saying he is searching for work in the streets of Calahorra in La Rioja.

He says he cannot pay the fine and the Town Hall is refusing to back down it, citing a by-law which prohibits the posting of bills.

However the local PSOE Socialist party has distributed photos of council run activities which are being pasted on the walls of the town in exactly the same way. They have called on the Town Hall to be more flexible, but the Councillor for Cleaning Services, José Ibáñez, has told the local media that he feels sorry about the case, but he has never cancelled a cleaning fine and he is not going to start now.

He said the photos showing other posters in the street must have been ‘a mistake’.

The answer is that 'No' Spain doesn't want entrepreneurs and nor does any other country. The people that control other people ('government' at whatever level) do not want mavericks that can think for themselves and that show ambition or initiative because they are ultimately a threat to their controllers insomuch as they may resist control. You think it's bad now ... wait ...
