fuengirola port, cockles have moved to a bar called portside by the boats
cockles owed rent so went into partnership i think with these people
the only thing i know about cockles was that 8 golfers i met a while back got instant food poisoning from their mussels,i mean 4 of them were sick within 10 mins of eating there

Why?
Why?
Go to the grave in an attractive and well preserved body? Rather skid in sideways, women on each arm, champagne and credit card in each hand, body thoroughly used, abused, totally worn out and screaming …."WOO HOO, WHAT A RIDE"

Re: Pie & Mash shop ?
The same reason I dislike irish bars in Spain. Its like going into a ghetto. But as i said "each to their own".

Yes, I know how you feel.......Like when I used to walk around London!

I agree Scotty. Also foreign styled pubs don't work in ANY country. Once went in to a supposed Tapas bar in New Zealand. The only thing Spanish was a postcard on the wall from Frigiliana (strangely of my brother-in-law and sister-in-laws house). The Tapas were full blown meals.
There's a Scottish bar in Seville. Only thing Scottish about it is the Saltire painted outside.
Mind you, the best Thai Green Curry I have had was in an Irish bar in Bangkok. Before you ask, we only went there because the food was recommended to us.
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!

Perhaps I should have said they don't work for me.
I tend to treat an "Irish bar" in Spain, or wherever, as a bar that may be a bit different to a local bar rather than an Irish bar. Never been to one outside of Ireland that is anything like an actual Irish bar is in Ireland.
But, each to their own taste.

that´s probably very true, just the sign IRISH PUB outside is enough to make them popular here, even if it´s not like a true Irish pub (the spanish ones are full of smoke for a start!! )

Our village doesn't have any take-aways so we feel sad and privileged at the same time.
Re: Pie & Mash shop ?
So you've never been to Kilburn then Campo Steve.

No, not been to Kilburn but I assume there are some good Irish bars there. By good I mean authenticated as Irish by the clientele rather than by just hanging up plastic bunches of Shanrock and shillelaghs etc.
Still, the Guinness in a pub in Ireland tastes much better than the stuff that used to be brewed down the road in Park Royal. Or is that just my poor memory?
