Website designer and photographer needed.

Postby Marina » Sun Jul 26, 2009 5:39 pm

Can anyone recommend a good website designer who doesn't charge the earth?

I'm also looking for a good photographer to take photographs of a house. I would consider giving a few nights very nice accommodation in return for photos but they need to be of a professional standard.Altrnatively can anyone recommend a good photographer, east of Malaga?

If I was there on holiday, I'd have taken you up on the photos! :D I have done six properties in Spain, and one here in UK, and I'm cheap! As regards web designers, if they are any good, they aren't normally cheap. Is your site casamarina? I'll send you a PM of a good webpage designer that has done quite a few sites in Spain, but no idea what he charges.
Regards, Frank

Can't help with web site designer but I can recommend a photographer. He lives near Marbella but came and did out daughters wedding in Velez Malaga and was considerably cheaper than anyone else we got quotes from. More importantly his pictures were outstanding.

Don't know if he does houses but might be worth a try. His web site is http://www.davidtomsphotography.com/
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!

Frank, it's a shame you can't make it out here then as I've heard your photos are excellent! I would be grateful for any recommendations, thanks.

Uuuum? I thought I had sent a PM, perhaps I got it wrong! :? I have seen the guy Steve is recommending before, he looks a very accomplished photographer, a pro, and TBH, I would have expected high prices, especially travelling from Marbella. Most pro togs I know wouldn't get out of bed for less than £400-500 a day, plus travelling expenses, plus photos! But if he's reasonable, grab him! :D

I haven't got a clue what browser I'm using but the direct link worked, thanks.

I've already got a template website but it's good to have a link for another one, thanks. Mine is only for holiday rentals.( If anyone wants the address let me know. :) )

I would really like one that has been designed with SEO in mind. I've been given a couple of recommendations for one particular designer (Thank you Frank and Trigger) and am looking into that.

Hi Ashfieb! Your site works great and fast on my IMAC using Safari Beta 4. What a nice site. It's very clean and easy to use. Looks like web designers are going to be a thing of the past soon. I made my own site, as well, using iweb. It does it all for you, more-or-less. All you need is a bit of an eye for colour, type, readibility and some organisational skills. And restraint!

Thanks Lavanda, I did the site in one weekend, all I need to do now is sell the house !

Due to my ongoing illness ( Motor Neurone Disease MND / ALS )and after a bad fall on the hill ( probably too much vino ! ), we have reluctantly decided to sell the house due to its location up a steep hill, we have decided to sell and rent a flat lower down in the town of Antequera

I think good web designers have nothing much to fear. They produce sites that stand out a bit from the home made stuff! :D Don't get me wrong, the home made one's will often do the job, I've just started trialing a new photo site at the moment, and I have spent half the time picking the brains of the css gurus, trying to customise the site. Those css, java geeks are really switched on! :D I think rentals in Spain will get more difficult, a first class looking site can make the difference of getting a booking or not getting it. A Spanish friend of ours rents out 5 properties, and whilst he continues to use Holidaylettings, James Villas etc, he has spent a lot of money on a pro site, and reckons it's been worth every penny.

Hi Marina
Just seen this post. We used a template website builder webs.com formerly freewebs and found it really easy to use. You don't need to use the templates either, you can build your own from scratch. I easily got the site registered on google and am waiting for yahoo. With the premium package your get your own domain name:

Hope this helped

Well he's a dark horse!!

It would be interesting to have a thread on here where everyone could post their web sites. I'd love to see what other things people get up to! :)

I'll have a look at the siite when I get a moment, thanks.
