To the people who once loved Spain........
Re: To the people who once loved Spain........
The immigrant question. Outside of (oddly enough) the odd television personality - like the football commentator 'Robinson' and, I think, a couple of reporters - there are almost no foreigners in any position beyond either self-employed or a waiter. Why are there no European schoolteachers, police, funcionarios, doctors, bankers and so on? After all, there are a couple of million European residents living here - some even second or third generation.
Otherwise, I like Spain with its corruption, siestas, tapas, decent measures, generous and kind people and crap television.

Re: To the people who once loved Spain........
Well, I asked my children what they would change about Spain and they said the heat and the food!
Personally,
1. I'd like to be paid for all the hard work I did in Spain, not cheated out of my wages.
2. No more dirt tracks on mountains - don't like the sensation of throwing my hands up in the air and shouting "whoooooooooooo" when visiting friends in the Axarquia.
3. Exterminate all male Spaniards under the age of 8.

Re: To the people who once loved Spain........
Yes it is strong but the reason for the age limit Frog is that they make really nice, kind, well mannered teenagers - I don't know why that is

Re: To the people who once loved Spain........
It's to do with the way women bring up their sons, Julian. It isn't confined to Spain. Women have daughters and remain reasonably sensible and normal. They have sons and have a chemical malfunction in their brains on giving birth. All the problems in the entire world, including those of under 8 year old Spanish boys, would be resolved in one generation if women would only bring up their sons like they do their daughters - to be capable, organized, confident, multi-tasking, independent and with a strong sense of compassion and understanding towards their fellow person. I blame everything on Eve and, by extension, us women.
Re: To the people who once loved Spain........
Well, Julian, I was going to say have a walk to your local primary school and look through the bars at the under 8 boys in the playground but I'm not sure you'd thank me for the outcome
Re: To the people who once loved Spain........
During the last 20 years here believe me I´ve seen plenty of under 8 year old spanish boys, they´re not all tied up behind school gates all the time!

That used to happen to me in the the UK too, some things are not so different When that happened there I used to read the meter myself, give them a call and I got a new bill a couple of days later
And I do exactly the same here

"No, Read the meter and give them a call"
Tried that. Still get an estimated bill showing zero usage, so that doesn't always work.
Incidentally, meter read yesterday. At last it looks as though my problem has been unearthed as the meter man noticed, after 9 months, that the meter reference number on the meter was different to that in his wee computer.
Mind you, not much difference from UK where our daughter had a large bill and when she queried it was told that it was right and that her meter had been changed the previous month. She was actually waiting for a first meter to be installed.

I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!
Re: To the people who once loved Spain........
Maybe so.....but is it worth the grief????? Seriously, it's the principle, as has been said on here before. At least the next bill (with lectura 'real') will be much less, but it's the principle of the thing,....again as has been said on here many times. I don't know of another country which would countenance such gross inefficiency from one of its 'national' (you notice I don't say 'nationalised!!!')industries...we just have to put up and shut up here...and I don't see why I should run my phone bill up still further just to achieve......nada!
