One for the Ladies !
A bit Chauvinist I know but I have just had an ear bashing about washing powder.
Specifically beloved is finding that what we are using is not touching stains at all.
We are currently use Mercadona own brand tablets both the colour and white wash ones and she finds them both useless.
Any recommendations ?

Pass!
Re: One for the Ladies !
We use liquid detergent, mostly Ropa Blanca,(Mercadona) ideal for cold/cool water. When necessary for whites/stains, I'll add some Vanish powder. It's trial and error to find what suits, and of course your budget dictates to a degree.

I use Eroski Formil Activ it seems ok, if I know I have a stain such as oil or tomato I squirt on some Bio Shout (its just called Shout in UK) about 15 mins before I wash it seems to work a treat, or straight away if I know I've done it. I don't use Varnish as I have found in the past it can bleach clothes especially if you forget how long you put on. Ali

I use Ariel liquid (from mercadona), but it is expensive.

Lyric, get one of those magic washing basket thingys, Ours sits on the landing and I just chuck all my grubby, oily, niffy articles in there and the basket takes care of it. It even irons it and puts it back in my wardrobe for me, smelling of spring fragrances as well ...............£4.99 from Costco.
As far as I'm concerned there's no need wasting money on suds.

Take your washing down to the river and beat it with a stone.
Diamatic (from Dia) works well if you don't have a river - or a stone.

Re: One for the Ladies !
I use Lidls own color liquid and a scoop of vanish in the wash, do everything either on cold or 30 degrees, no problems, but having said that, nothing really gets to dirty to have to worry.

Whilst we are having a washing powder debate, has anyone tried the new eco friendly washing balls, you put into the drum of your machine and are supposed to last something like a 100 washes?

Hi kexon,
They work ok generally, don't use them for my greasy car overalls though.

Apply Kalia neat first (wear gloves) then use kalia (aka Vanish) in with the washing liquid (not powder the water is too hard for powder here). Use WIPP liquid or Consum alternatives........

Re: One for the Ladies !
I put a rubber type round ball with holes in with my wash load, but thats for the cal, now I have mentioned cal, I would like to say that I bought those cheap magnets from ebay, about a fiver or less a pair, I had forgot about it really until the old girl next door came and ask me to undo her little filter thing attached to her taps, they were so full and she only had the new bathroom put in a month ago, anyway, that made me realise that I hadn't checked mine for over 6 months since I added the magnets, and what a surprise no cal, I can't believe the difference they have made, and just for a fiver

Wear until dirty. Throw in recycling bin. Buy new.

They sound good - we have terrible problems with our filters getting clogged up, do you know what they're called?
