Strangely it was recommend by friends who live there (NA 8) ) hows the walk from airport to car hire? did you rent on the spanish side?

Never rented but have seen rental companies meeting people outside with cars. If you have loads of luggage there is an old guy who goes over the border with a trolley.

Bad weather at Gib (in winter mostly) = diversion to Málaga & bussing back to Gib.

But bad weather at Malaga can mean a diversion as well. Anyone any idea how often it happens at Gib?

Its meant to be one of the worst runways in the world for landing, due to the Rock and the shortness of the runway(ie~sea at each end  )

Being Diverted to Malaga only really happens when there is bad Lavante round the rock when vision is poor.I dont think it happens that often. It wouldnt put me off flying from there

The owners of an apartment near us who fly out frequently have stopped using Gibraltar because they have been diverted to Malaga so often due to the poor weather conditions. They have perhaps been a bit unlucky.
If flights from Gibraltar went to the airport we wanted (Nottingham, East Midlands) we would give it a try as it's much nearer to us.
The new Terminal 3 at Malaga has only been open a couple of weeks (whilst we were in the U.K.) Quite impressed!
What it will be like for departures...... we will have to see!!
Where there's a will, there's a way!
