Malaga Flights Cancelled

Just heard that Malaga has shut/or will shut very shortly. Nothing taking off.

Can anyone confirm????

I've just got back from Malaga after dropping my husband off. His Monarch flight to Manchester was cancelled by text message just as we were leaving the house. Other flights to UK are leaving but no seats on sale, we queued at easyjet/iberia/ryan air for over an hour only to be told any seats left were for passengers already holding tickets, no new sales.

So, the airport isn't shut, seems most of the problem today is with Monarch & passengers are being alternative flights out tomorrow, depending on the ash cloud of course.

Easyjet cancelled its flights this afternoon, not looking good for tommorrow.

Gib airport has been closed all day.

Strange, the aena website is still showing planes departing and arriving.

The local spanish paper said the Seville, Jerez and Badahoz (?spelling) were all shut because ofa volcanic ash cloud over southern spain, , their map showed an area covering most of souther europe - including parts of Ukraine, Grece and Italy being affected, but NOT the UK.

7.05am Monarch, Luton to Malaga cancelled this morning. Very little info given by serviceair until announcement of cancellation at 9.

I am not missing much as it is raining in Malaga

Looking at http://www.aena.es/csee/Satellite?pagen ... 8858947193 all seems to be back to normal at Malaga.
