Re: General Strike - 29th September
I have heard it will be down to the individual school, you would need to ask yours.
Re: General Strike - 29th September
Sorry if this has been covered but is it closing hospitals etc..? I mean for non urgent stuff?
Re: General Strike - 29th September

20% of European flights will be allowed and 40% of international flights and 50% of island flights to the mainland.
A lot of disruption for that day.
putting the "ANDA" into Andalucía..
Re: General Strike - 29th September
I've just checked on Ryanair site, there were a lot of cancelled flights today due to the French strike.
I suppose if anyone's flying next Wednesday they would be informed a.s.a.p. by e-mail etc so could rebooketc.
What a year this has been for travellers

Re: General Strike - 29th September
Being different The basques decided to have their general strike in July.
There was actually little disruption apart from the morning when the pickets tried to intimidate people going to work. Most just waited until the pickets had gone home and then went off to work.
I think it was more successful in the smaller villages where the indimidation could be maintained all day and where everybody knows everybody else and there was the possibilty of reprisals for people breaking the strike

Re: General Strike - 29th September
The Féria starts here on Wednesday - bit pointless having a strike on the same day really, since no work will be done anyway.
Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

Re: General Strike - 29th September
Ryanair flights to/from Spain on 29th will be cabin baggage only. No checked bags will be carried.
Details at http://www.ryanair.com/en/notices/gops/ ... ke29sep-GB
If you are flying that day then that page also has a linbk to claim back any checked baggage fees you may have paid.

The class we go to at the adult education center will be going ahead, the teacher is the Director of the collage. We were asked by the other pupils if we would be attending- said yes, they all said no! The rest of the class are Spanish, so I guess we will get a lay in tomorrow, don´t want to cross a picket line!
Re: General Strike - 29th September
I asked in my bank today if they were on strike tomorrow. The teller told me it was all a bit hit and miss. He said he would turn up for work, but the senior staff have not confirmed what they are doing so if there are not enough of the right grade those that do turn up will just work in the bank without opening the doors. Sort of a catch-up day.
Re: General Strike - 29th September
Nearly all flights to and from Spain are cancelled tomorrow, incl all Ryanair
Re: General Strike - 29th September
I heard that no Ryanair were cancelled - but only hand baggage would be available on their flights. All Aer Lingus cancelled. Possibly I am out of date but that was at 6pm.

Re: General Strike - 29th September
Ryanair's plan was to operate as much as possible, hand baggage only. However, this from their web site shows that it was impossible so just about every flight to/from/in Spain has been cancelled.
Updated: 28th Sept @18:00hrs – Ryanair forced to cancel ALL Spanish domestic flights on 29 Sep and most International flights to/from Spain on 29th Sep
Unfortunately due to the failure of the Spanish Government to protect non Spanish airline's flights with minimum service guarentees Ryanair have been forced to cancel all domestic flights in Spain on 29th Sep and most International flights to/from Spain on 29th Sep.

Re: General Strike - 29th September
lots of flights still landing.
http://www.aena.es/csee/Satellite?Langu ... oincidente
only two ryanair in the last few hours tho.
the airport was "fun" last night, the baggage handlers blocking the roads with trolleys, the police everywhere.. even a riot van. i left just before 1, so dont know how bad it got.
edit, just checked a few individually, and a couple have been cancelled.
