Electricity Costs
Electricity Costs
Just wondering if everyone is paying the same for their electric these days?
8 years ago it worked out around 10cents a unit (inc iva etc)...just had a look this morning and its now 19cents a unit!

I think it is due to inflation.karandjon wrote: 8 years ago it worked out around 10cents a unit (inc iva etc)...just had a look this morning and its now 19cents a unit!

Re: Electricity Costs
I only have records back to 2004 to hand, but I reckon in 2010 I paid 18 cents per unit compared to 13 cents in 2004.
Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

Re: Electricity Costs
I have a bill from 2000 that was 14pts/kwh
that´s about 0.08€/kwh (I think)
that´s about 0.08€/kwh (I think)

Re: Electricity Costs
Having just caught up with A.com and this thread, I logged into my bank account, and have found that Endesa debited €12.65 on on 12 December 2010 (about normal for a month with no occupation of our holiday home), but b*gg*r me, on 11 January 2011 they have debited me with €29.06
Not bad for an empty house with the only items switched on being the fridge, the water pump and the PIR outside light.
It will be interesting to see if this is an estimado month or a real one.

Re: Electricity Costs
Zanuck, I'm curious to know why you leave your empty fridge switched on.
I would have thought it would cost more keep an empty fridge cold.
We always empty ours, defrost it and leave the door propped slightly open.

concorde
It's not empty, always has a few bottles chilling, plus mayo, ketchup, Don Simon orange juice - I forgot to mention it has a small freezer compartment which usually has a pack of bacon and a pack of those ready to cook baguettes in it, ready to remove when we arrive in the small hours and to defrost in time for our first breakfast.

Re: Electricity Costs
Zanuck, if you leave meat in the freezer compartment can I suggest for health reasons that you also leave something like an ice cube/ lolly in it as well. It will be obvious it's thawed if there has been a power cut in your absence. We always leave our fridge empty and open.It doesn't take long to chill down and when we leave our neighbours enjoy 'the extras' We are often absent for two to three months though
Incidentally if a fridge is inadvertently left off and shut, a clean cloth and a paste of bicarbonate of soda will usually remove the mildew and the smell

Apologies Zanuck for not reading your post properly

Re: Electricity Costs
is this including all the extras such as rental of equipment, iva, etc etc? I have worked the overall unit price out including all that. that makes it 19cents a unit.gus-lopez wrote:2002 = 7,9213c per kw/hr

Re: Electricity Costs
No it isn't but if I add the contracted capacity charge +rental +iva & divide by the units used it comes out at 17,13643c / unit , or less the more units that are used. The more contracted power you have the greater the standing charge. I've only got a 3kw supply but it's ok. Never had a problem & it runs 2 fridges, 2 freezers, w/mc, s/pool pump in the summer & the a/c occasionally when the dogs get too hot. Plus I weld from it as well !karandjon wrote:is this including all the extras such as rental of equipment, iva, etc etc? Re: Electricity Costs
My bill was worked out with a completely different formula last month (Dec)...does anyone know why?
FACT. CONSUMO LECTURAS REALES 698 KWH x 20 x 0,006258 EUR/KWH (plus all the usual extra charges)
Hitherto, it was the number of units times 0.125159 (Nov)...plus all the 'xtras' etc.....

Well it's the same result whichever way you work it out.tjtops wrote:My bill was worked out with a completely different formula last month (Dec)...does anyone know why?

Perhaps they have invented a new "mini" kw which is 20 times smaller than the old one!

Well,
It never is again going to be as "cheap" as it is right now. So make the most of it.
