Sickness benefit?

Please can anyone tell me how sickness benefit works here?

I have a friend who is seriously ill and is worrying about how long she will get benefit for. She has worked and paid into the systen for at least four years.

Currently she is in her fifth month of receiving full pay but I would like to find out for her how long this will continue.

I would go to an office of the INEM ( unemployment , sickness & pensions ) & make some enquiries there. The best I can discover is that it would appear to be payable for up to 18 months & then be subject to assessment. Couldn't you also check with her employer ?

Thanks. I can't go to the office as I work full time but I'll ask her if she has a copy of her contract and take it from there.
