Cost of Spaying A Cat or Dog

Hi

I need to have a cat I was given spayed and also a dog. Just wondering if anybody knows what sort of price Vets over here charge!!! We would probably go to Coin. Any advice would be gratefully received.

regarding your dog, we have just had ours done and prices were the same as a cat if the dog was under 10kg and 20 euros more if over. we paid 200euro for the dog plus 40 euro for collar, iodine and antibiotics.

You may get a better price if you say they are rescued ...............its not a procedure the locals use much.

200€ for a dog ? We don't pay that for a bitch, which is a more complex & longer op. 70-80€ is the normal price for a dog here.

Ask Ana Moralles, the vet opposite Lidel, down the side of La Bohemia restaurant in Coín. She used to charge €70 - €90 for a dog depending on size. Her English is very good and is one of the best vets in the area.

hi gus, sorry i call all my dogs, dogs, boys or girls. She is a female, and yes the male is cheaper.

If you read the discussion on the thread i attached earlier, you will see the costs vary greatly between areas. For example it is very very cheap down on the CDS, compared to here...It was cost just as much in fuel to drive to CDS or Murcia to get her done! This is the going rate for the Sevilla/Huelva area.

yep, 260€is the current price for a big (40kg) female dog.

Just to let you know that I took the cat last Friday to Anna Morales behind the Bohemia Restaurant in Coin and both the Vet and all the Staff were exceptionally good and helpful. I dropped the cat off at 10.30 am and picked her up at 5.30 pm. The cost inclusive of five days worth of antibiotics was 83 Euros. I have to go back next week for her to have the stitches out. I was very happy with the whole procedure. Just saving up to have the dog done now.

Well, when I went to pick the cat up, I asked the girl how much it would cost to have the dog spayed. She asked what type of dog, and I said a sort of Cocker Spaniel type, but on the slightly larger size. She asked what the weight was and I told her I recked she was probably between 15 or 17 kilos (as result of all the jamon and queso she crams down whilst guarding the fridge) - and as the price depends on weight, due to amount of drugs etc they need to administer for the operation - the Vet seemed to think we were talking in the region of 180 Euros, although that would be for everything, antibiotics, etc., (I hope). I suppose it is expensive but even in UK it most likely would be about the same, or possibly dearer.....not sure. Still, goes with the territory I guess.

mine was 280€ plus antibiotics. im actually scared to total it all up. its a good two weeks wages anyways, and i do alot of hours
