I have a feeling that you cant scrap a car unles you have a current (and obviously that means any historic) Car tax reciept(s)
That is unless the authorities have an amnesty, which happened round here recently.
You'll have to find a scrap yard and ask them !

Can you not, ahem, push it out of the driveway then report it to the Policia Local as an abandoned vehicle?
Let's go Brandon!

Yes, the local scrap yard will take the car away for nothing. You do need to have the local tax paid up to date, this is to de register the car with traffico. However you probably wouldn't care about that as it isn't your car. The owner will be liable for the annual car tax...forever, eventually have an embargo on their bank account.

Will the grua take away a UK banger ? One of the owners in my community has a banger that has not moved in over five years.

Can't see any problem at all Scotty. We are all in the EU. Freedom of movement and all that. It would have been one of the first areas sorted by Brussels

Yes they'll probably take it but no , it's not legal. Spanish law states that a foreign registered car has to be changed on to spanish plates or , if not, it cannot be part-exchanged , sold or gifted away. If it has to be scrapped it has to be taken from whence it came , out of the country.

As it will be very difficult to trace the owners, why not to dump it outside a little way from your property.
It won't be the first UK reg car abandoned.
There wont be any official record of it ever having been on your property.

Cheers

I did think about advising about the possibility of abandoning the vehicle elsewhere, but thought that my Green Party membership might be cancelled, if I was to suggest such an environmentally unfriendly act.

I do have to admit that one of my old English cars, which I gave away free to someone, is now at the top of a small mountain and is used as a chicken hut.
It can be seen clearly from the busy road beneath and looks like a monument....

Regards,
Gordon...
