Exit from EU
Exit from EU
Should the unthinkable happen at some point in the future, ie the exit of the UK and/or Spain from the EU, what happens with UK pensioner's health care? Does the right to receive this in Spain remain, or is that right returned to the UK, leaving pensioners to take out their own private medical insurance ?

Re: Exit from EU
If the UK left the EU it would almost certainly retain its membership of the EEA. All the current rules about reciprocal healthcare, residency, freedom of movement, driving licences etc apply to members of the EEA.

Thanks for your comment Sid. My elderly neighbours have had a few sleepless nights since last week, but I think they are much more relaxed now.

Wait and see, anything that might happen will not take place overnight, there will be plenty of warning and if anyone needs to cut and run, they should be able to.
