Endesa - Estimated Reading

Postby alicia » Sun Dec 18, 2011 1:11 pm

Hi

Just got my Electricity Bill for last month. 11 November to 13 December and it is 125 Euros which seems pretty steep. When I read the meter and actually re calculated the bill, the total is 80 Euros. The reading on the bill is of course estimated. Can I ring Endesa up and give them the correct reading like a person would do in UK or would that not make a blind bit of difference??? If they did accept the revised reading I gave to them would they then issue a new bill and take the correct payment from my account not the incorrect 125 Euros??? A Spanish friend seems to think giving Endesa the true reading won´t make a difference and that virtually everything on the bill is a fib, especially the bit about "lectura real" in November - the Spanish friend said Endesa hardly ever come out to read the meter and that it is just something they put on the bill to let customers think they do.

Has anyone had experience with this? Would be greatly interested.

The easiest thing to do is register online with Endesa and use the facility to give your own reading every month.
Let's go Brandon!

It's worth mentioning that for full functions it seems to prefer Internet Explorer.

(I'm trying to keep it simple I know that you Can get Firefox and others to work)

However it does work. Last month I had an estimate for my apartment which was €50 too much, I had missed the day to enter my own reading by a day and this month I re-entered my own reading on time and have just had a refund ! 0.68 cents.

I propose a spending spree !

I find they estimate one month then read the next - and they definitely come out to me because I often see the chap as he has to come right on to the property to the meter.

It isn't illegal.
The meter readers prefer/ sometimes insist, that is is positioned outside your property so that they don't have to enter your property.

we are on 20,000 sqm so it would be a fair distance from the house if they wanted it on the outskirts :shifty:

Thanks for the clarification

Which means that if it was on the outskirts then they would have a fair distance less to walk.

Don't know if anyone else has noticed, but Endesa are taking our direct debit payments earlier and earlier. Up to about 6 months ago, they had always taken their payment around the 20th of the month. Since the middle of the year this day has gradually crept earlier, and this month they took the payment on the 8th. I guess in a few months they will be taking it before the it is due. Must be a second "cash flow" trick following the switch to monthly bills; it will be interesting to see what they come up with when the effects of this one wear off.

Yes it has happened to us but I try to read the meter on the 19th of the month the old reading date and give the reading in at the Endesa shop so I drag it back to correct reading and correct reading.

I notified Endesa online today of my meter reading.
Couple of things:
1. it has to be done within two days of previous month's reading
2. I had to use IE - it would not transmit the reading from within (my) Firefox
