Residence CARD

Postby Parilla » Sat Mar 31, 2012 7:23 am

This week's editon of Sur in English, page 34 has a report of an event held in Mijas for ex-pats by the Malaga Consulate. Under the section "Residence and tax", it is reported ".....National Police, who are now, once again, issuing the cards, instead of the paper documents they introduced several years ago."

If true this would be fantastic news; has anyone else heard of this ?

Sorry to disappoint you but they are referring to the green A4 registration document which is now available as a laminated card.

So it's just smaller and equally useless.

Just for the record, it was the EU that banned the old style residencia cards and it would not be possible to reintroduce them even if Spain wanted to.

Sid - do you know if you can take the A4 document to the Commisaria and exchange it for a laminated card? And if so what are the costs?

I imagine you just treat it as if it were a change of personal data and just pay the €10.

It's a lot cheaper to photo reduce it and get it authorised at the town hall or notary.

It's not like you ever need it for anything useful as it's no good for ID.

Thanks Sid - thought it was too good to be true.
