went snorkelling at the weekend and saw about 5 jellyfish, just the small purple or brown ones - seemed fairly normal...wasn't a whole load of them.katy wrote:Did anyone see the giant jellyfish plague. Headline says extreme heat and lack of rain have made breeding easier. Many beaches have had to be closed and 2000 were bitten over the weekend. However, in the small print the real reason is given...it's not the weather it's overfishing!

Did you not see the photos in the newspaper? I am beginning to think the spanish newspapers are full of lies and wrong information
Bet Rajoy's sweating this morning even with the AC on

Re: 40 degrees?
Good news...... we have 3 weeks of peace and quiet until our next visitors arrive
Cousins daughter gave birth to a daughter ( her first baby, a boy, died at 6 months old due to a very premature birth)
Our kitten killed a baby rat
The dog and her puppy that we found abandoned along a main road, have a new home each
And best of all, and to get back on subject ..... the overnight temperatures are not too high and I can sleep without using the aircon

Yaaaay! Good news! Maybe we should have a Good News thread, that would be nice, I do like Andalucia.com but the negativity gets a bit wearing at times.
Thanks for that post, Oliveview01

Re: 40 degrees?
Not good news but I would have thought the Jelly-fish story (and it was linked to the heat) would have been useful to anyone in andalucía, I would have been grateful if I had been planning a day on the beach today. This forum is getting like don't mention the war
You could start a good news thread...we have had them before. However, is posters personal good news anything to do with andalucía. Some posters may be accused of boasting As one poster said in a PM. he wanted to ask about a problem with his car but didn't want the flak from saying what car he had!

Re: 40 degrees?
I remember a similar influx of jellyfish a few years ago - my youngest grandson who was 8 or 9 at the time had a whale of a time collecting them in little buckets. He was covered in stings but that didn't put him off lol. They were small, see through ones as I recall. If he was here now, no doubt he'd be begging to go to beach, he's a strange young chap lol.
But I don't like them, so would have appreciated the info, Katy.
Do you miss Spain? You clearly keep up with what's going on over here, you know a lot more than I do

Re: 40 degrees?
I miss a lot of things, especially as it was some years ago. Popping back a couple of days a week without travelling would be ideal...well in summer and not July/August. Still in touch with a few friends over there by skype and I read the málaga paper most days.

Aaaw, thought you still must be fond of the place

I'm in Ireland experiencing the coldest July I've ever known. Apart from the weather, It's absolutely stunningly beautiful here but I could do with some sun

Re: 40 degrees?
That's just what was forecast - so what's so surprising.
By the way, in Spain they don't do Fahrenheit - that's just reserved for the Daily Mail when it gets hot in the UK.

Re: 40 degrees?
I appreciate that Sid.............but the numbers are more impressive
Re: 40 degrees?
Either way it is just after midnight and it is 31.6C Thank goodness for aircon.
I can remember nights like this when we came here 10 years ago, we would go and have a midnight soak in the pool but the pool was so warm it didn't really cool us down, the mosquitos bit my head and shoulders and I still didn't sleep well. Tonight is no`problem as long as the aircon is working and the electricity keeps flowing. We do have a generator that could be used if it didn't, but I wouldn't subject my neighbor's to that (unless they started it first).

Lovely today only supposed to be 30º. I'll believe that when the days over .
