I am with Anis, Alhaurin de la Torre is beautiful, the roundabouts are not tourist's tat they are indeed works of art and the landscaping of the town makes it a joy to drive through.
I think they may have run out of junctions to build roundabouts on now though.
I hope that somehow they can keep it all going despite the current economic difficulties.

As soon as smoke is reported, a helicopter with bucket arrives within minutes. And the fire is usually out before the yellow crop sprayer plane arrives. If the fire persists, more helicopters arrive and ground vehicles such as forestry and bomberos are on the scene in an hour. Those guys are real heroes

..sorry to thread creep a bit.... but Katy, there is often confusion between the two Alhaurin mayors and yes, Frank you are correct too. However, it was as Katy said the AEG mayor who was arrested 2 years and charged with corruption and recently found guilty but still in office.
Ours was indeed mentioned in 2011 on a minor inference of jobs for the boys, was not arrested and no further case made and neither did I say he was without sin,
I was just pleased he was putting money back into the town, unlike some who just line their own pockets. I just said I was perhaps naive.

...back on topic.......more sports facilities, more walk ways, more equipment for us oldies in public parks.....lot less room to park

I wasn't confusing them just remembered seeing his name in the news regarding bribery or something. I know the difference, always thought that de la torre was a bit more upmarket than AEG. Don't think I have seen the roundabouts though, years since I was there. Personally I think they should be nicely planted with flowers and shrubs...safer too.

I arrived here in 1979 as a12 year old child, just about everything has changed since then, but then it took us three days to drive from Santander to Marbella, so Motorways have made a huge change, 11 hour drive today.

OH! by the way when I left school 1983, they were talking about bringing the train down to Marbella from Fuengirola, one thing that hasn´t changed )

I had forgotten about the heads and feet! What a shock I got when I bought a chicken and found the head attached- that was when I discovered I had blunt knives
