Endesa price rise

Postby alisonb » Sun Jul 22, 2012 4:04 pm

We're on the discriminatory hours tariff (night time much lower), and having just checked the most recent bill, the price rise for July is a swizz. Whilst the high tariff has gone up 4.8%, the low tariff has gone up 11.8%. Whilst it is still much cheaper, they obviously think we're getting it too cheaply. Humph!

Don't forget the bill you get in September for July/August electricity will be a further 3% dearer as IVA goes up from 18% to 21%.

Having just had a close look at the recent bills, as well as the increased price per unit, they are now charging "potencia" which adds around 11 euros per month. The overall result is that our bills have increased from 35-40 euros/month to 50-60. Did they notify us about the addition of the potencia charge? I tend to bin all the bits of paper which come with the bill.

They have always charged for the potencia you have. The monthly standing charge is about €2 a kw.

Best not to complain then, as they've only started charging for it in the last 6 months. No sign of it on previous bills!

So are you saying that you have never paid a monthly charge in addition to the units charge?

In which case you have saved a lot of money! Just hope they don't spot their error!

So what you are now getting is the normal monthly charge - it's not a change as such.

I've queried bills with them before, so it's their own fault they haven't picked it up! And there was me thinking I was really economical, using much less elec than my friends, who were all getting bigger bills than me. Now I'm off to look for a cheaper supplier

You won't find one that is significantly cheaper as all the tariffs are the same as they are government controlled.

With a bill as small as yours I wouldn't waste the time looking not to mention the agro of changing over.

I have some friends on the day/night rate whose invoice for last April was 20,33€ & May 35,48 € !! I couldn't believe them. He only produced them after telling me my average 60-70€/month bill was expensive ? & I'm on the normal tariff.

Our standing charge is a approx 2.78€, then again we live in a cortijo in the campo, our total potencia is 1.5Kw, even our local Spanish neighbours cant believe we have such a meagre supply - 2.2Kw is the norm for old campo houses.
We moved here 8 years ago, we have a 3.5Kw electric kettle, clothes iron, deep fat frier as well as many other high wattage appliances all still in storage.

Our monthly bill is around 25€

Sid - 56€, you're showing off!
