Wood cleaner

Postby Marina » Thu Nov 22, 2012 1:48 pm

Can anyone recommend a good wood cleaner and restorer suitable for oak furniture?

Amazon have a great one but it can't be shipped to Spain.

but it can't be shipped to Spain

They don't ship to Spain? or it is a substance that cannot be air freighted along with normal post?

If the former try Ebay etc. If the latter use surface mail if you can wait. I have carb cleaner and other stuff sent by surface mail.

Amazon UK just say it isn't available for this area. It isn't on Amazon.es.

I hadn't even thought of Ebay, but I'll take a look. Thanks.

Found it on Ebay but the seller says it can't be shipped as it is an aerosol.

A Spanish alternative would be great if anyone knows of one.

What's the name of the UK version?
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!

I use a mix of light teak oil available here and beeswax also available. I use it for my light oak furniture and for my olive wood sculptures. If the wood is really greasy or dirty you can wash with a degreasing cleaner first and dry then apply the oil and wax mixture with a soft cloth. This won't work on french polished furniture.

Hope this helps. Sue

Is what you need QUITAMANCHAS PARA MUEBLES ENCERADOS O BARNIZADOS
STARWAX
Referencia 14663131
200 ml. Limpia las manchas de agua, alcohol, suciedad incrustada, exceso de cera, siliconas.

Renueva los barnices envejecidos por el sol

This was lifted from the leroy merlin catalogue, but if you go to any decorating place (where they sell paints etc) or a you can buy all sorts of waxes, cleaners and fillers for wood.
I can spell but I can't type

Thank you. The postage charge on Homecare Essentials is a bit expensive at 20.50, so I'll have a try of the alternatives.

Hi Marina

What steps do you have to take on the Amazon.co.uk to support the Apariv Dog Rescue Centre? I would like to support them.

Thank you very much Alicia. It's very simple and doesn't cost you anything other than the price of your normal purchase. The best way is to:

Go to the APARIV web site www.apariv.org

Click on "Donate with Amazon". This is the second tab along the top menu bar.

Bookmark the page to use in the future.

Click either on the text link or type what you are looking for into the Amazon search box. This will open an Amazon page.

Make your purchase as normal. You will then have generated a donation that will be paid to APARIV.

It should all be straightforward. If not, please let me know.

if you just a want a cleaner this will work and its cheap but it will show up the scratches.

Cheap furniture polish

What you need
Olive oil
Lemon juice
+ soft cloth
How to do it
Mix the 2 together, and using a cloth, rub it onto your furniture!
