Buying in Water

Postby AndaluzCampo » Mon Dec 03, 2012 1:25 pm

Does anyone know if there are companies who will deliver water to our deposito suitable for use in the house (and garden)?
Is there a minimum amount?
We are inland campo East of Malaga, Velez Malaga area is central for us.
If so, I would appreciate any information and their details.

Most builders merchants supply potable water. They have tanks they strap into their tipper trucks. I had to ship in water to fill my pool. It's not cheap. Minimum quantity was 10,000 ltrs at €120 per tankful.

We are in Almogia in the campo and although we have mains, it's not that reliable so occasionally have to have it delivered. Ours costs €90 for 11,000 litres. Ask around your locals - that will be your best bet and you'll get an idea of what they SHOULD be charging rather than what they will charge you as a foreigner :wtf:

We have friends who have a well beneath their house, normally fed by a natural spring, however, this dries up during long dry spells, the local farmer delivers water a charges 100€ per 6000litres.

How long would 10.000 Ltr of water last just for domestic use in the house, and how big are the trucks as our Lane is just wide enough for a 4x4? :wtf:

Hi,
Ok all you that buy in water by the truck load ...how long does it last...... :?:

According to "official" average figures 60 days, but would expect longer in a country that has long dry periods..........helps focus the mind on not using too much........

60 days would be for just one person, assuming that they were "average".

We have a deposito and I keep accurate usage records (so I know when to top it up). In the winter when there is no irrigation on we would use about double the average - probably due to the high pressure shower and of course dishwashers and washing machines account for a lot.

On that basis 11000 liters would last the two of us about 17 days but that would only cost us €2.

I too keep accurate records of water use. Our summer use averages out at 1,200 litres per day and winter usage is 350 litres per day. Two adults, dishwasher, washing machine etc. and power showers on at least twice a day. Summer is obviously irrigation. When I am on my own the use falls to 200 litres per day in the winter.

In the summer if we have 4 adults and 4 children renting our place we will go through 10,000 litres in about 10 days to 2 weeks. This includes washing machine/dishwasher and 3 bathrooms. Our pool is supplied by the pozzo.
