Walking group

Postby JAKE M » Mon May 27, 2013 5:05 pm

Does anyone have any details of a walking group in the Axarquia area? We fancy a walk around (or up) Mount Maroma and surrounding areas. We have bought a couple of walking books from the bookshop in Torre del Mar but fancy a guided walk.

You could try one of these:-

(can't see that they have anything planned for La Maroma at the moment, though)

Look at the web site of Salamandra Aventuras in Competa - they advertise a trip up La Maroma.

That's the one which the second link in my reply connects to.

We are looking to do maroma but have been advised to not even think about it till at least October. Make sure you take more water than you may think you need. And always tell someone where you are going. You never know what can happen. Btw where you thinking of starting from as we have been give a few options.

A friend of our is climbing Maroma this morning (it's his 60th birthday and his son and son-in-law have flown out to do it with him) - but they were getting up at 3.00 am to avoid the heat! Not the way I'd want to spend my birthday, but each to their own. :)

Don't know about starting points so we would prefer a group scenario. we will be out in June, September and November so I'm guessing, weather permitting, November would be best.

There are routes starting from Canillas de Albaida; Canillas de Aceituno; Alcaucin/Cortijo Alcazar and from the north/Robledal ... you can even do it by the light of a full moon!
