special licence for driving a minibus

Hi all

Just wondering whether you need a special licence to drive a minibus in Spain?

I'm finally making the move to Spain in the autumn and it's been a dream of mine to start a walking tour company. I'm now starting to think more seriously about the details re licences, insurance, equipment etc.

Any info on liability insurance, best companies to go with etc., also welcome.

Check your License.......if you have Category D1..................

Minibuses
Category D1

You can drive vehicles with:

no more than 16 passenger seats
a maximum length not more than 8 metres
a trailer up to 750kg

thanks for the info Enrique, I don't think I have, so it sounds like something I will need to get in Spain, I used to drive a minibus here in the UK but I think the rules have changed since then

In the UK you can drive a small mini-bus with seating 21 and under. I used to drive one myself, not sure though how the law applies here. Ask at a car hire!

Current regulations................UK license Cat D1.......... 16 seats or less
