Just wondered if anyone has any ideas?
I could photo copy his passport and get it stamped, is this still acceptable?
He has the large A4 green piece of paper at the moment.
What does your 16 yr old use for ID?

If you use a copy of your passport, he should get it certified as a genuine copy. Your local town hall will normally do this for a small fee. You could also incorporate a copy of the green form on the same sheet.
Strictly speaking, only the original is 100% acceptable, but I doubt that he would have a problem with a certified copy - that's all I carry and that includes a copy of my driving licence as well.

I produced my original licence but a laminated copy of my passport (not certified) to the Guardia Civil when i was stopped for speeding and they were ok with that.

Your original licence would have been acceptable ID so they would not have been bothered whether the passport copy was genuine or not.
For the sake of €1 it is sensible to use only certified copies if you don't have an original with you..
