Fencing

Postby Lyric » Thu Apr 23, 2020 2:10 pm

Our dogs have taken to going for a wander around the campo first thing in the morning.
Where we are in the Campo it is mostly open scrub with very little cultivation.
These wanderings can be up to 4 hours so it is something we want to stop. The answer is obviously fencing.

Can anyone indicate the going rate for 2m high fencing.

Lyric, a couple of years ago when we had the parcela fenced it was 25€ / meter squared, all in / finished.

So a 2m high fence would be 50€ per linear metre. Its not cheap.

Please be aware, this is just fence to the ground, posts in concrete 'standard' style. It wont stop the dogs digging underneath.

Thanks for the reply, no I know they will try but it will slow them down, We feel we have to do something. Here the campo is mostly uncultivated and unfenced. They just go wandering, record so far is four hours, well nearly five. It's a worry.

Repeating myself - bad sign. :silent:

With our .. Escape artists.. I bought about 50 metal reed bar from the metal shop, 1m long, and banged them in the ground inbetween the posts, then tied the fence to it with wire.

Where there was a 'clear run' of fence, i mixed up cement and made a /\ at the bottom of the fence. Its not the smoothest/best job in the world, but it works and they dont escape any more.

** if the dogs are chipped and registered and caught by the dog man then you'll be fined for not securing your land. If they are not chipped / registered and caught by the dog man they will be rounded up and taken to the pound **

Silly rules, but it happens. Normally only when people complain, or they are 'dangerous looking' even if they are soppy lick you to death dogs

2 metre high feather edge board is £60 plus vat fitted in the Uk so Spain is much cheaper.

A friend of mine who lives in Devon has an "electric" fence around his large open spaces.
When the dog approaches, wearing the receiver collar, it gets a mild electric shock. Soon learns not to try to leave his home territory.

Dogs are very intelligent. It can probably smell the electric.
