Get your food from the UK soon.
https://www.bbc.com/news/av/business-55985956
Report about a British food store running out of stock in Belgium. It also mentions Morrisons having supply problems. I presume that is in Gibraltar as I don't know any other Morrisons on the continent.
I guess there are less foreigners in Spain at the moment so maybe there is not the demand to buy the stock at the normal consumption rate, but if they cannot get supplies at all then it will eventually run out.
Or maybe it's a business opportunity to load up at a wholesaler in the Republic of Ireland (they will stock most of these brands) and then export to Spain.

Get you food from soon? What does that mean?
Custard creams! I cannot remember the last time I had one. Our local supermarket has plenty of produce on the shelf.

Where is "Soon"?
Re: Get your food from soon.
Russell's shelves were pretty empty when my OH went in last week but they were expecting a large delivery this week.
Re: Get you food from soon.
according to the BBC article it wasn't going to be anytime SOON.
Re: Get your food from soon.
Mainly dairy products. BBC going with the story from the Guardian that trade is 67% down. They neglected to show the press release from Dover Ports authority that trade is back to 90% of previous.
Re: Get you food from soon.
Typical biased reporting from the BBC then, nothing new there.

It means the topic title didn't publish the same as I created it. I had a Union Jack emoji between from and soon. I guess the webpage doesn't permit it.

Re: Get your food from the UK soon.
I popped into iceland (overseas.es) to pick up some bits, (and to see for myself, i was passing)
No bacon, hardly any cheese, no cakes, no vitamins, no fresh milk, no sausages.
They had filled up all the shelves with products they had in stock, eg cans of strongbow filled the whole isle, maybe 4m long, and floor to ceiling. There were more pringles on display than i ever saw, but only of 2 flavours...

Re: Get your food from the UK soon.
I have a problem finding butter when im over in my area, the local branch of Mercadona and lidl only stock Spanish butter and i hate it..I have found Irish or French butter in other stores but they don't seem to get it back in when it's gone..I guess that is probably because it's in an area of mainly Spanish residents.
Re: Get your food from the UK soon.
M&S in France has lots of empty shelves too. Some deal Boris got!. Time to retaliate, Waitrose has a large shelf of Evian and Welsh Brie is very good
Re: Get your food from the UK soon.
Yeah we went over on tues. Whole sections missing. They kept saying over the speakers about lorries been stuck at ports. Tesco wasnt quite as bad but both shops are filling their shelves with some saver brand.i guess they are getting what they can from anywhere. Surely ,3 months in they know what paperwork they need? Never been in either shop with so few customers. Makes you wonder if they will last or at least will start cutting staff numbersspanish_lad wrote: ↑Fri Feb 26, 2021 12:03 pm I popped into iceland (overseas.es) to pick up some bits, (and to see for myself, i was passing)

Re: Get your food from the UK soon.
Anyone know what’s happening in Gibraltar?
Re: Get your food from the UK soon.
Russell's in Torrox had a few gaps but things are coming in dribs and drabs. Bought a big bag of frozen rhubarb so looking forward to making some crumble with that. We don't buy a huge amount but are partial to a proper pie, Branson baked beans and Shredded Wheat (not together obviously!).

Re: Get your food from the UK soon.
Similar tale with Overseas up here in San Javier - spasmodic deliveries, so on our first visit permitted since last year there was no bacon or decent pies, very little Indian ready meals. We called in next day as we were passing and they had the bacon.
Lidl ran out of English-style bacon and have toild us they will not get any more.
If paddy is editing his heading he could add an "r" to the "you"

I have edited it to keep you happy Peter as it was obviously giving you problems in understanding the thread subject
It also meant that I had to edit every message.

Well I went in to Russell's last week and they seemed to have most of everything. Didnt see any empty shelves at all. Not that I buy much there. I just purchase the vegan products and plenty of those.

Re: Get your food from the UK soon.
My OH went into Russell's last Thursday and they didn't have anything much we wanted (Shredded Wheat, cranberry sauce which they usually have, some Quorn products, Branston baked beans, Yorkshire tea and Fisherman's Friends). He came home with only Guinness and malted grain bread ..... the staples of life I do hope these problems with deliveries from the UK settle down before too long. They've built up a good business there and it would be a shame if they started to struggle.
Re: Get your food from the UK soon.
Went to Iceland on Wednesday.
Came away with only about 40% of the items that we went for and which they usually stock.
Wasn't worth the bother of going.
Went to Russel's on Friday for 4 items that are usually in stock.
None of them were in stock.
Hope the situation improves.
Cheers
