Changes to Electricity Tariffs
Re: Changes to Electricity Tariffs
I wouldn't mind paying the bill so much if only we actually got the voltage we are paying for. It's a long and sorry tale but at times it drops to 175v and it drives us nuts. Unfortunately, Endesa who supply the power lines are impossible to deal with. When we did manage to get them out they said it was our fault, but it's not. They have added so many more properties onto the system, and they have all been enlarged and have had pools added, there's not much left for us by the time it gets here. If we had wanted to stay here I would have seriously thought about going off grid with solar as the systems now are so good. Friends have got solar and it very hi-tech these days.
Looking back at past bills I can see how the cost of the electricity has risen over the past year under the old system. For a similar number of kwhs the bills vary quite bit. I'm not sure now if the prices are fixed for the 3 time zones, whereas before we paid whatever the price was on the day I think.

Hi Wicksey,
I am thinking about a solar installation at my house in Sayalonga. Do you know the name of the company that your friends used for their installation?

I'm not sure Bronze but I do know they have switched to Mariposaenergia.es and they also install panels, so they may have used them. They live near to Granada city so may have used someone more local to them. I can ask them when they get back from their holiday they are on at the mo if you wish?

Re: Changes to Electricity Tariffs
I’ve just had a solar quote from mariposa. About €7,500 for a 3 bed house and they reckoned I’d reduce my electricity bill by about 60% -70%
Re: Changes to Electricity Tariffs
Don't really understand all the stuff surrounding the electricity bills.( K/watts etc!)
What I do know,is that my last 3 months bills have each been around €10 less than last year. :

Well you must be doing something right. And a lot “righter” than most...

Thanks Ashtondav.
To be honest we're not that clever.Washing on Sat & Sun instead of Frid & Mon is the only concession we can recall making.
One important factor could be that this year we are using a newly installed air-con/ heating system. To be fair our Landlord said it would be more efficient than the old one!
Hope our recent bills are not a series of huge errors!

I think that only last until the end of the year and not everyone gets it.

Re: Changes to Electricity Tariffs
There is an important point in that article which explains why some of us have not experienced any rise in our bills (mine for May, June and July totalled €20 less than I paid for the same 3 months last year):-
"The fluctuations in the daily price of electricity directly affect consumers covered by the regulated tariff (PVPC), just over 10 million people. On the other hand, those in the free market - some 17 million clients - are exempt, since they have an agreed price with their company based on time slots and other concepts."
The consumers' organisation is lobbying for the reduction in IVA to be made permanent for those users with a potencia below 6kw, I hope they are successful.

Re: Changes to Electricity Tariffs
That article confirms that the IVA reduction last until the end of the year. I am in the free market and am not affected by these changes and as I have more than 10kw I get no IVA reduction. Things are very different in the free market. I am now paying less than I was 4 years ago.

Re: Changes to Electricity Tariffs
One of our annual customers is the owner of mariposa, I've asked him for a price for when we move to our own place, it does look very appealing !!!

Re: Changes to Electricity Tariffs
Yes it was Mariposa my friends in Granada used.
The way our power is going here we may as well have solar. The voltage sometimes drops to 145v but I am having trouble just trying to get through to Endesa on their automated phone number, it just cuts me off. Plus we have little or no mobile signal to receive a call when the engineers want to come out. I'm pretty fed up with it all now.

Re: Changes to Electricity Tariffs
Do these charge increases effect everyone or is it just certain providers? Ours hasn't gone up at all based on the same time last year

Re: Changes to Electricity Tariffs
I think they all have to offer the 3 way tariff. If you are already on one of the many existing energy saving tariffs I think they leave you on it. That’s what they did with me.

Re: Changes to Electricity Tariffs
Our electric is about 200 per 2 months, so 100 a month on average.
7500 would take 75 months to pay for itself.. that's 6 years and 3 months worth ?

Hola
I think your maths is incorrect -
You pay 100 per month and could possibly save 60 / 75% each month so between 60€ and 75€ every month
So if you save 75& each month then that would be 100 months, or 8 years 4 months
So if you save 60% each month then that would be 125 months or 10 years 5 months
Now my Grand Plan was to think about charging batteries between midnight and 8am and running the whole house of the batteries - so only paying 0.065€ or six and a half cents per unit - but the cost of sufficient batteries was too high - unless anyone knows better
