A Special Day..

Postby BENIDORM » Tue Jul 27, 2021 8:56 am

Today is a Special Day for my Wife and I, in fact for a number of reasons it's a Very Special Day.

55 years ago today we got married, my wife was a Wren and I was a Royal Navy submariner, it was a rather whirlwind romance, 6 months from when we met 'til we got married.
Her parents said you're too young, it won't last.....
Ok we were teenagers, but when you're in the Services you have to grow up very quickly, so we knew what we were doing.
We've actually spent well over half of our married lives in Spain, and I have to say that I'm glad about that and will we ever go back to the UK ?, well one can never say never.
I had to remind Pauline this morning that it's our wedding anniversary, unfortunately her memory loss problem has got worse during the past 12 months, so I make sure that we enjoy every day.
We don't need to have a special meal, in a special place, because every meal and every place is very special to us.

Take Care Everyone and have a Great Day wherever you are.

Saludos,
Gordon and Pauline..xx

Many congratulations Gordon on your Emerald Anniversary. We have recently celebrated our Coral, and like you have spent over half of our married lives abroad, something we're very grateful for. May you have many more.

Wicksey,
Thank you for mentioning the wedding anniversary gifts, I'd forgotten all about them, do many people still follow this nice gesture.?
When I can I will get an extra gift for my wife, but it might be just emerald coloured not a big emerald set in gold..:D .

Saludos,
Gordon..

We always do and my friends that got married a few months after us, sent us a lovely Coral wedding anniversary card. I have read that it is also called Jade as Coral is a bit non PC, being endangered. Having said that, we do have a piece of coral, given to my OH as a child when that was the sort of thing people would bring back from holiday!

I'm sure your wife will appreciate a faux emerald

Wishing you and Pauline a very Happy Anniversary. Having met you both and enjoyed Pauline's wonderful cooking, I am sorry to hear about the memory problems. You are both lovely people and I wish you many more happy years together xxx

Irene,
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful words, I hope that all is well with you...

Wicksey,
I took your advice about finding a faux emerald item for Pauline, I actually found a small neat pendant in our collection of costume jewellery, from our vintage and antique clothing days, she loved it !!
Many thanks...
Saludos,
Gordon..
