I read in our local paper that it varies by locality. In Nerja which consists mainly of tourists, very few masks are worn but in Spanish areas such as Almuñécar and Salobreña the norm it to wear one.

Only saw 2 people not wearing them in Mercadona in Almuñécar this morning.

No entry to our local Carefour without a mask. They have made it a rule of entry.

How do they enforce that as it's written in law that you don't have to wear them in shops

They won’t serve you. Mask on or leave the shop. I guess it works like in UK where a pub can refuse to serve you without giving a reason as it is their premises.

I think it's just not mandatory, Wicksey, as Costa says, it's up to the proprietors.

There are still notices to wear on most shops here in sussex but meaningless. Would say around 90% are still masked up in small villages around here but out of town shopping centre hardly anyone wearing one. 3 of us went to the D Day exhibition in Portsmouth last week and everyone wore one except the 3 of us. I haven't worn one since January and didn't wear much then.
