Picking Up Friends from Malaga Airport September 2022

Hi,

I have to go and pick up some friends from Malaga Airport in the next few weeks and I was wondering if anybody could tell me what rules are now in place regarding this and where I have to go to meet them. Any info would be greatly appreciated as always. Kind regards.

I always collect from the free 15 minute pick up zone. Wait in San Julian and once guests are through passport control drive the 3 minutes up to the airport drop collection zone.

I do ( almost)the same as Costa Kid:
I park up outside Macro.
Guests make their way to the very back of the Express carpark.They then call me.
3mins later I'm picking them up.

I don't think I do the same as you after all.
You use the drop-zone.( I use the actual carpark).
Maybe the drop-zone is easier.
Although when we are flying from Malaga we use a parking company.They always take the car from us using the express carpark; not the drop-zone.

Theres no real drop off zone anymore as there was in the past. Theres the short stay carpark opposite departures where you get 10/15 mins free or theres the normal carpark at the far end

Theres no covid rules anymore. You can go into the airport and wait at arrivals as per normal.

Just a thing, if you are going to use the "express parking" to drop people off or pick people up, you only get 10 minutes for free now, after that it's €2.70 - waiting outside is a good idea, as well as meeting the people at the far end of the car park where it's much quieter. People who pull up at the entrance and Block the road are very annoying.

Just to say many thanks for all the info. Greatly appreciated. I wasn't sure if some COVID rules were still in place or not. Sometimes there is soo much info it's hard to know what is current and what isn't. Anyway, I am grateful for the help.

I agree Spanish Lad.
I always tell my visitors: when they get to the back of the carpark; go down towards the exits where all the spaces are.
There are too many idiots simply stopping in the gangways to drop-off their hordes etc.
It must be a nightmare for you guys operating the "Greet & Park" companies!
PS: just in case we get held-up past the 10min mark,how does the pay-at-exit work? ( is it worth having €2.70 at hand?)

Trouble is with the Express parking is that I've had to queue to get out and by the time I got to the exit barrier I had to pay. I ended up faffing around then, looking for my card to pay with as I didn't expect to. I now prefer to just park in the short stay carpark and my OH has a little further to walk, but for a short stay it has worked out very cheap, only a couple of euros. Must say, all the people that just stop dead as they pull into the Express parking drive me mad and there's such a scrum in there due to stupid parking.

Card only at the exits, but you can use coins if you go to the ticket machine before hand
