Luckily when we bought in 2004 it included newly installed solar panels + large Tank for all hot water, so must have saved a fortune since then.

Totally reasonable. The amount you are getting I would expect 5 years tops.
Pylontech Batteries are a grand each - each one is an overnight, if you use little power. When you think of that, the system that you have seems good - do everything during the day from solar, and minimal at night.

Yes, the 3-tier system of charging favoured night use but for us we have had to turn it on its head and do things differently. Putting the water heater on a timer so comes on during the middle of the day and same with washing machine etc. So far it's working really well. When it gets colder, we have a gas fie and maybe hot air con just briefly to warm the room before bed. The big plus for us is the amount we get back for surplus energy via Energy Nordic - still can't believe it lol

UPDATE - Just got a shock with the latest electricity bill. After having 2 greatly reduced bills mainly because of the rates we were getting for surplus energy going back to the grid, our supplier has just reduced them dramatically i.e. from 28 cents per kwh to 7 cents, so now no different to the rest.
They had insisted the previous rates were correct so I have asked for an explanation, as it now may well be better to move to a different supplier. Very disappointed.
