Kettle descaler

Postby olive » Thu Jan 26, 2023 9:20 am

Our local Mercadona seems to have stopped stocking the descaler .

What do you use and where do you get it from please?

I buy the bottles of distilled vinegar from Mercadona Olive.
I boil a mixture of 50/50 with water.
Kettle comes up like new

Hi olive,
After you have done jonbar.1's fix get a kettle descaler ball ........

"By placing the descaler inside the kettle during use, it collects fur effectively and efficiently by attracting scale. Make sure you rinse your descaler regularly to ensure a long life."

Hola,
I cut a lemon in half, then cut each half into quarters and put all 8 pieces in to the kettle. Bring to the boil (or rather just before it boils) and leave overnight. The results are amazing especially if like me, you have a lemon tree - I have never tried an orange or mandarin but in theory, they should also work.

I like your more natural ways..

I have used agua fuerte in the past.. works, but needs a bit of rinsing out...

Cheers Enrique.
I like the idea of the "de-scaler ball"
Can I get them at supermarkets?

Hi jonbar.1,

"Can I get them at supermarkets"..............doubtful ............only chemicals.

Try your local ferreteria ........................

We took ours out from UK.

We have three of the metal mesh balls. Never seen them for sale here.

Will try the lemon/vinegar solutions.
