We are thinking of ordering two sofas for delivery from our nearest (70km) IKEA in Sevilla, but after reading general reviews on Trustpilot and elsewhere on the internet, we are somewhat wary. We like the sofas, and particularly the ability to buy additional cover sets, so that spilt milk and dust from the winter log burner can be easily cleaned……
The flat-pack sofas are even singly far too large for our Sportage and we are not inclined to hire a self-drive van, but that could be an option. Having downloaded the instructions, we have decided that we can assemble the sofas ourselves, so that is not an issue; and it seems that we can pay a few euros extra, so that the delivery people can take away the large old sofas…… And we are inclined to pay using a UK credit card to give us Section 75 protection
So, to the point - does anyone on here have any shareable experience of the delivery process from IKEA, and particularly from the Sevilla store please? The young man in the ‘sofa department’ was very reassuring that all would be well, that we could arrange and that he could guarantee a specific delivery date, that the delivery would be by IKEA staff and not by a third-party company, that it did not matter that our house was in the campo (we could meet their van at a local venta car park), that none of the reviews related to the Sevilla store (true), and that all would be well……. And his colleague on the main Customer Service desk equally convincingly said the same. But we still feel uneasy…..
Any thoughts welcomed

When we bought our kitchen from the Malaga branch we used a 'man with a van' to collect it for us. If there's someone you know of locally that could do it, it may be an option. I have assembled entire kitchens, wardrobes, tables, chairs, sofas etc from Ikea and the sofas were very easy (we have an Ektorp 2 seater, with replaceable covers - very simple to assemble). Either that, or look at furniture shops locally? When we wanted a very large wardrobe with sliding doors, it worked out no more expensive to get a local company who delivered and assembled it for us for free.

Well, after all the cogitating, it worked......
We ordered our sofas from IKEA in Sevilla last Tuesday 23 May, and took great care in doing so. We identified the one young salesman in the sofas department who was cheerful and happy enough to help with our poor spanish, and we cultivated him. He assured us that he would personally guarantee our delivery, and gave us his personal mobile number in case of any issues. He copiously detailed our postal address (60km away in the severe campo) and that of our nearest Venta on the main road, our house what3words link, and our house GPS latitude and longtitude, on the order form and we agreed a delivery for yesterday morning. Having shaken hands, off we went to pay (UK credit card, for section 75 protection), and to see the 'transport lady' near customer services to give her our hand-drawn map. But apparently, IKEA Sevilla use several transport contractors, and our delivery agents were not represented that morning, but a cheerful rep of a competitor transport agent was there, took our map, and promised to pass it to her colleague. We were still dubious, but wandered off for our compulsory meatballs.......
Yesterday came, and the delivery slot of 09:00 to 15:00 started to slip by. Anxiety grew, but at 14:30 a call came to my mobile, with an almost totally unintelligible and very quickly spoken message in Andalucian spanish, telling me that the driver was delayed, but would be at our local Venta at 16:30 as previously suggested as an easier option, in our instructions. Several text messages were then exchanged, reconfirming directions and times, aided by the invaluble Google Translate. And at 16:30 there they were - two young lads both looking about fifteen years old and doubtless some ones grandsons, in a white van far too big for them, who followed me only a metre from my boot, on the complicated route to our hidden house. Five minutes later, they were off with our old sofas as arranged, and two huge (and I mean huge) and two smaller boxes were in our lounge. All as planned - or as near as dammit you could expect in Spain or in the UK for that matter.......
Now both new sofas are assembled (as Wicksey said, very easily) and she who must be obeyed says that she is very happy........
We will go to IKEA in the next few days to personally thank our new friend, and will post glowing feedback on the IKEA website
