Can't say about shops in the widest sense, but our Mercadona in Marchena (rural east of Sevilla) is already advertising that it to be closed on 28 February, and is usually a good indicator that the rest of the town shops will also be closed....

Even Lidl was shut today and they often are open on bank holidays. There were people trying their door and looking most disgruntled. If you've just arrived from the UK, the concept of everything shutting for a bank holiday must come as a shock!

At least shops are open on some Sundays and bank holidays. In my province of Bizkaia most shops are closed every Sunday and bank holidays while throughout the months of from June, until September they close at 2pm on Saturday afternoons.
