Re: Wise.com
I know nothing of wise or Revolut but I'm old school and I won't bank anywhere unless they have a branch where I can physically walk in and discuss my account face to face, maybe I'm too old fashioned!
Re: Wise.com
I use my Wise account to pay my DD's. Endeas, Basura, IBI etc. No problems at all

Good that Spain still have lots of banks open, even in the smallest of villages. We now have a 50mile round trip to our bank in the Uk.They are closing down everywhere.Even face to face is challenging, they are just counter staff and have to make a phone call to a head office for any info requested.Manchesteral wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 9:28 pm I know nothing of wise or Revolut but I'm old school and I won't bank anywhere unless they have a branch where I can physically walk in and discuss my account face to face, maybe I'm too old fashioned!

Having a UK bank account means that I have no choice other than to bank online. With a rental property there we needed it, and also when ordering Tesco deliveries to my father in law etc, although we have neither of these now.Manchesteral wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 9:28 pm I know nothing of wise or Revolut but I'm old school and I won't bank anywhere unless they have a branch where I can physically walk in and discuss my account face to face, maybe I'm too old fashioned!
Here, our local bank shut down and the nearest one is in the centre of Nerja which is a right pain for parking and so we never go there, only when needing to pick up a new debit card. The local branch was great, I had a direct phone number to the girl who always dealt with us, but the Nerja lot we've found a bit miserable and the queues are huge (even if you make an appointment online, there wasn't any system of actually jumping the queue when we last went). Even the ATM has gone from here and we have to go along the coast to the nearest one (the other banks seem to charge fees for withdrawals from other banks). Not that we use much cash these days.
We use Wise otherwise, and it is brilliant and quick to use. Their fees for exchanging money are so cheap, and I would never use a mainstream bank for that now. I'm aware it is not a full bank and so their protection of your money is not the same as a bank, so I do not keep any large sums in there. We also pay fees for the Spanish bank, now 80€ a year for a joint account. I have wondered if I can do without it, but I have literally everything on DD and I'm not sure I can bothered to try to redirect them all now.
