supermarkets in Benalmadena

Postby buckaroo » Tue Nov 01, 2005 1:18 pm

Can anyone please advise on local supermarkets in Benalmadena with regard to opening times and locations. Arriving this Saturday (5 Nov) @ 1930 hours and need to stock up for weekend. Are they open on Sundays?

Don't know of any real supermarkets that open on Sundays! There are 2 small, self proclaimed "supermarkets", that you'll get the basics - just up from the roundabout with all the windmills (Avenida Fredrico Garcia Lorca) about 100m up on the right. Along at the next roundabout and head up Avenida Palmeras there is another wee one opposite the tennis courts.

The small Spanish one (not Super Sol, the other one) under Minerva Apts opens for a few hours on Sundays too.

I read that since the developers Arenal 2000 have bought it they have reduced the hours at Tivoli to just 4-8pm on Sundays. There are rumours that they aim to close it permanantly whenever possible. Therefore, no market.

Both Lidles (Arroyo) and Plus (El Pinillo) supermarkets were open on Sundays until recently - now the tourism has dropped for the winter they seem to be closed too. In Benalmadena Pueblo, there is a Mascom supermarket (not massive but stocks the lot) which is open on a Sunday morning.

Other than that, the one mentioned around the Minerva block in Arroyo.

Thanks everybody for your help on supermarkets. As we will be arriving in Benalmadena approx. 1930 on the Saturday evening, we will aim for the Marina shop, which I now remember - thanks for the memory jog. At least that will get us some supper/breakfast provisions as a starter and we can look around further on your advice on the Sunday.
